An Open Letter to the Donald: "A Better Solution"

Dear Mr. the Donald,

I have heard that you are going to deport all the Mexicans from our country, and I applaud you taking such a strong move.  However, as we know from a few sources, this may prove costly.  Of course, you will be forcing Mexico to pay for it, but the actual construction will take awhile; Mexicans ARE lazy.

So, while we wait, we can talk about something that might just be a better solution for everyone.

First, we'll need to identify the Mexicans.  Since it's true that all Mexicans are Catholics (and we all know about those Catholics, amiright?), it might be nice to require all Mexicans to wear little brown crosses on their clothes.  That way, we'll know right away who we should be rounding up.

One good thing to think about is to maybe put some sort of tracking number on them like Chris Chrisie wants to do.  That way we can make absolutely sure what they're doing, where they're going, and whether or not their corrupting our youth with drugs or raping our women.

The next problem we'll have is storing them while we wait for that wall to finally get built.  Well, Mr the Donald, we have TONS of FEMA camps all over this country.  While the UN was going to use them before the Jade Helm conspiracy was exposed by those brave Texas patriots, we should just go ahead and take them from those commies.  The best part is they already come equipped with barbed wire and are way out in the middle of nowhere.  (While its true some may be hard to get to, we can always use some cattle cars or some such, and ship them in by rail.)  I'm sure there are tons of patriot militias who would be willing and eager to help guard these camps.

Of course, we all know that only through hard work can people truly be free, so we can always give them something to do while they're in those camps.  Idle hands are the devil's workshop and all that.

So, in closing, I hope you take these suggestions to heart.  I'm very sure you'll get a positive response from the rest of your followers.

Regards, A God-fearing, minority-hating Patriot

PS: If some of them "happen" to die in those camps, we'll save a TON of money shipping them back over the border.

PPS: It might also make sense to round up homosexuals to keep them from enacting their gay agenda; the blacks to stop their anti-white hate speech; and the liberals who want to give our country over to the godless and the Muslims.

For those of you who missed it, the above is sarcasm.  However, for sarcasm to truly bite, there needs to be a kernel of truth in there.

All throughout the world, right-wing, nationalist sentiment is one the rise.  In Germany, nationalists attacked a hostel housing refugees. In Greece, the EU poster child for the Recession, we've got the Golden Dawn. In Hungary, the government, dominated by the far-right, is using the refugee crisis to to further push their reactionary agenda. Even in Denmark, the far right is on the rise.

And now we have the Donald.

It's true that at first, I laughed at him, seeing in him the natural result of trying to push this country further and further to the right.  Now, he and his followers are beginning to scare me.  As Digby made clear in her Salon article, Trump is the natural

outgrowth of a conservative movement that is nationalistic, theocratic and libertarian [snip]  All you have to do verify that is take a look at right wing radio. The hosts aren’t just obsequious. They are fawning fanboys and fangirls. Indeed, Trump is largely a talk radio phenomenon, with rare exceptions the obvious favorite among the biggest start from Limbaugh to Savage to Ingraham. These media stars don’t identify as Tea Partyers or populists or libertarians. They identify as conservatives. The fact that they are supporting him as if he is the reincarnation of Ronald Reagan says everything you need to know about the Trump phenomenon. Trump’s agenda is simply the conservative agenda, circa 2015, nothing more, nothing less.

I started off laughing at him, teasing the few conservatives I know about him, etc.  Now, I call him what he is: a fascist.  His agenda is even reminiscent of the National Socialist agenda: he rails against right and left, he stokes nationalism and hatred of "the other," he talks about "making America great again."  Christ ~ he's even for taxing of the 1%.

I'm not exactly sure what the best way to combat this insidious rise.  In my heart, I hope the majority of Americans hear him, and dismiss him, but so far, he's shown no signs that his popularity is abating.

Maybe I'm overreacting, and starting at shadows, but there is that pernicious rumor about Trump and Hitler's speeches.
