Clinton Weighs Staff Shake-Up

It’s from Politico and an unnamed source, so take it for what it’s worth, but:

Hillary and Bill Clinton are so dissatisfied with their campaign’s messaging and digital operations they are considering staffing and strategy changes after what’s expected to be a loss in Tuesday’s primary here, according to a half-dozen people with direct knowledge of the situation.

Apparently, they wanted to shake things up post-NV and SC, but now are looking towards after Tuesday to make some necessary changes.

“The Clintons are not happy, and have been letting all of us know that,” said one Democratic official who speaks regularly to both. “The idea is that we need a more forward-looking message, for the primary – but also for the general election too… There’s no sense of panic, but there is an urgency to fix these problems right now.”

Ultimately, the disorganization is the candidate’s own decision-making, which lurches from hands-off delegation in times of success to hands-around-the-throat micromanagement when things go south.

The article talks about having so many cooks in the kitchen, that roles are fuzzy and messaging lacks a primary, driving point to hone in on.  All of this reminds me of 2008 when the reports were about Mark Penn (who’s mentioned in this article) and others in the staff were in-fighting about their respective roles and spheres of influence in the campaign.

What’s interesting is that the article mentions that a LACK of a “Mark Penn”-type to be the gate-keeper and czar in the campaign to keep all the cats herded together.  It even mentions last summer and fall’s email drama, adn how it hobbled Hillary out of the gate

I just don’t get how it’s happening again after ‘08.
